LinkedIn is a business-oriented social networking site. Founded in December 2002 and launched in May 2003, it is mainly used for professional networking. LinkedIn had more than 80 million registered users, spanning more than 200 countries and territories worldwide. The site is available in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish. Quantcast reports Linkedin has 21.4 million monthly unique U.S. visitors and 47.6 million globally.  The purpose of the site is to allow registered users to maintain a list of contact details of people they know and trust in business. The people in the list are called Connections. Users can invite anyone (whether a site user or not) to become a connection.  LinkedIn also allows users to research companies with which they may be interested in working. When typing the name of a given company in the search box, statistics about the company are provided. These may include the ratio of female to male employees, the percentage of the most common titles/positions held within the company, the location of the company's headquarters and offices, or a list of present and former employees.

Yelp.com

http://yelp.com/ is a social networking, user review, and local search web site that is operated by Yelp, Inc.  Yelp has about 31 million monthly visitors.  This is a popular website.  Yelp provides online local search capabilities for its visitors.  A typical serch includes what the user is seeking and the location from which is to be performed, entered as a specific address, neighborhood, city/state combination, or zip code.  Each business listing result contains a 5-point rating, reviews from other site visitors, and details such as the business address, hours, accessiblity, and parking.  This is a very helpful website to me and businesses.  If I want to travel to another state or a business need to send someone to another state, they could go to yelp.com and find out the best restaurant, hotels, parking and etc.

Slide

http://slide.com/ is a software that allows users to display slides using a computer during a presentation.  These slides are often incorporated into a slideshow and used as a visual tool to enhance the presentation.  Slides can be controlled by the presenter.  Users presenting with slide software are allowed to manipulate text and images on the slides and use the slideshow feature to present their information.  Slideshow is used by many different companies.  I used slideshow is was very easy to use, for now on I rather use slideshow instead of Microsoft Powerpoint.

Academic Earth

http://academicearth.org/ is a website launched March 24, 2009, by Richard Ludlow which offers free online video from universities such as UC Berkley, UCLA, and Harvard.  On this website you can search the different subjects through the different university and pick the best lecture.  This is very useful to me because I could listen to lectures and learn information that I did not know. I think it would also be very useful to bussinesses.

Google Maps

Google Maps is a basic web mapping service application and technology provvided by Google.  Once it was named Google Local.  It is free for non-commercial use, that powers many map based serves, including the Google Maps website, Google Ride Finder, and maps embedded on their party. To use google maps I had to type http://maps.google.com/.  I think it would  be very useful to businesses, if they were taking a trip to another state or city, they could find the different routes, and also few live traffic.  It is also useful to me as a student.  I think this a good source to use when you are traveling some where else.

Google Latitude

Google Latitude lets uses to manually turn on and off the tracking software; thus gives users choice when they should be or should not be seen.  It also lets users to choose the people who should be able to locate them.  http://google/latitude.com uses global positioning system, wifi, and cell tower location data to find/track/locate people.  It is amazing how you can use this website to find people or let people locate you.  I thing this can be very dangerous too, if you have someone out to get you and they can track you down by using google latitude.  It would be helpful for certain businesses but me as a student I probably wouldn't use goolge latitude again.

Linkedin

http://linkedin.com/ is the world's largest professional network with over 80 million members and growing rapidly.  LinkedIn connects to your trusted contacts and helps you exchange knowledge, ideas, and opportunities with a broader network of professionals.  LinkedIn gives you the keys to controlling your online identity.  Have you Googled yourself lately?  You never know what may come up.  LinkedIn profile rise to the tope of search results, letting you control the first impression people get when serching for you online.  I enjoyed usinge LindedIn, it was very useful and helpful in locating coworker, friends and family.  I could also invite people to join.

Delicious

Delicious is nothing more than a collection of Web sites and blog posts that you save in the social bookmarking site del.icio.us using a specific tag.  These "pages" can offer you, your book, or your business a way to showcase groups of links to sites that are relevant to your message in a "social" space.  I know that it can be used in conjunction with Microsoft Office documents.  It can be used in a business setting and it was useful to me as a student. I found that delicious is a useful and resourceful website.

Stumbleupon

StumbleUpon is a discovery engine that finds the best of the web, recommended to each unique user.  It allows it users to discover and rate Web pages, photos, and videos that are peronalized to their tastes and interests using peer-sourcing and social networking. 

http://stumbleupon.com/ can used with a microoft office document.  Toolbar versions exists for Firefox, Mozilla Applicatiohn Suite, Google Chrome and Internet Explorer.  Stumbleupon can be very useful to me because it finds different websites that I have interest in.  I can click like it if I like it or click thumbs down. I enjoyed using this website

Zamzar

http://zamzar.com/ is a web application to convert files.  It allows user to convert files without downloading a software tool.  Users can type in a URL or upload one or more files forom their computer, Zamzar then converts the file(s) to another format.  Zamzar supports the downloads and conversion of videos from a range of sharing websites.  The following websites that Zamzar can convert their video formats to the format you need:  Youtube, Google Video, Revver, PutFile, and etc.  I enjoyed using zamzar.  I never used Zamzar but I will be using it in the future.

Zillow

http://zillow.com/ is an online real estate database that was founded in 2005 by a former Microsoft executive and founders of Expedia.  The website uses a proprietary algorithm call the "Zestimate" to appraise property values bvased on undisclosed factors.  Zillow is a wonderful website that helps you find deals on estate.  It helps realtors, buyers and sellers educate themselves and be a ware of as many details as possible that have to deal with buying a potential home.  In the future if I'm looking for a house, I will be using Zillow.

Poll Everywhere

Poll Everywhere is the easiest way to gater live reponses in any venue: conferences, presentations, classrooms, radio, tv, and etc.  Most businessess uses poll everywhere for marketing research.  A lot of businesses uses poll everywhere such as: Google, McDonalds, MIT, Notre Dame and even different churches.  Poll everywhere is a good resource is you want to find out what the world thinks about something.

SlideShare

Slideshare is a free web application that allow anyone to upload a powerpoint.  It make it availabe for viewing online.  You can openly share it with the entire web community or restrict it to select audience of your choosing.  You might want to show it to a selective audience as training or show it to the world as a way to pormote your business or cause.  My busines uses slideshare to promote their businessess.  I had trouble using slideshare, but it is a good resource.  I will be practicing using it in the future.

Cha Cha

ChaCha is a search engine which specializes in its question answering service which uses a technique known as the human search engine.  The name ChaCha comes from the Mandarin Chinese word, cha, which means "to search".  ChaCha is used by many contractors.  For businesses it could be very useful, for the simple reason, if they were to seen a worker out of town.  They could use ChaCha to search for reasonable rates on hotels and gas.  ChaCha can be incorporated into a office document.  If they were going to do a presentation.  They could post all their information in a word document.  I enjoyed using chacha, because I have never heard of these website.  ChaCha is very useful.

Tag Galaxy

Tag Galaxy is a very good flash application that uses papervision 3D with beautiful transition effects to explore Flickr photos via virtual planetary systems.  Tag Galaxy saves time when publishing photos to multiple places at once.  Most business uses Tag Galaxy for that reason.  You can post your photos on tag and blogs.

Taggalaxy is eye catching.  When I enter onto this website it caught my eyes.  I was amazed.  It is a very good website.

Sumopaint

What is sumopaint?  It is a thriving online art community of over a 10 million unique users and over 200,000 registered member from different countries.  The primary purpose of the community is to create, share, remix, comment, rate and fave the artwork of its members.  http://www.sumopaint.com/ hosts the internet's most versatile painting/ photo manipulation application called the Sumo Paint.  

Sumo paint is a full phot editing/painting application, which works right in your favorite web browser.  The application can be used in Windows, Macintosh or Linux operating systems. I think it would be very useful to businessess.

I enjoyed using sumo paint.  I would recommend it to other users.

Toondoo

Toondo is another Web 2.0 application with wonderful potential for teachers and learners.  Toondoo offers a convenient platform for creating and sharing cartoons.  To get started, you simply choose a single, double, or triple panel.  You can import images.  Toondoo offer a wide range of characters, text bubbles, backgrounds, etc.

Many cartoons uses toondoo, such as Avatar.  I think this will be very useful in a business setting.  I enjoy using toondoo.  it was my first time using it and I will be using it again.

Color Hunters

Color Hunter can be utilized in a word document or a presentation.  It is very neat how it takes an image and color palette the colors of that image.  It will be very useful in a business setting.  This is my first time using Color Hunter and I was very impressed.  I will be using it again.

I think Yola does utilized in conjunction with Microsoft Office programs. It is also useful in business setting. 
Yola will be something that I will use in the future.

Cloud Computing

What is cloud computing?  Cloud computing is a general term for anything that involves delivering hosted services over the Internet.  These services are broadly divided into three categories: Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Platform-as-a-Service and Software.  The name cloud computing was inspired by the cloud symbol that's used to represent the Internet in flowcharts and diagrams.


Google docs was much simpler than windows live and zoho.  All three I had to create an account.  With google docs I only had to type my information and take a screen shot.  Windowslive I had to add files and upload photos.  ZoHo, I had to create an account through my yahoo account.  Zoho, I had to type on a notebook and upload images.

Both website are very useful for searching different items.  The bing website let you look at the images, videos, maps, and etc.  I did not know about these websites.  I always use google or wikipedia.  In the future I will be using Bing and Cuil to search information.
